While fur farming is a dwindling industry in Quebec, a few farms are still raising foxes and minks in unacceptable conditions.
According to documents obtained by the Montreal SPCA through an access to information request, staff members at the ministère de l’Agriculture, des Pêcheries et de l’Alimentation du Québec (MAPAQ) have been reporting since 2022 that the conditions in which foxes and minks are raised for fur in Quebec are incompatible with their welfare, and they recommend a ban on fur farming. It is unacceptable that the government has not yet taken action!
The BC SPCA firmly opposes fur farming and has long advocated for its end, with your support. Thanks to passionate and engaged individuals such as yourself, we have collectively raised awareness of this issue, securing a ban on mink farming in B.C. We want to expand this ban to all fur farming in Canada.
We encourage you to watch and share this documentary. Your voice adds strength to our ongoing advocacy to end fur farming in Canada for good.
